U.S.S.

CONSTELLATION PROJECT

Historical Significance

A Naval Tradition

It is only fitting we follow our U.S.S. Zumwalt charitable project with another project focused on Maryland, Naval traditions, and historical significance; the U.S.S. Constellation!

The U.S.S. Constellation is currently berthed at Pier one in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor where it’s in the care and custody of Historic Ships in Baltimore (HSIB). It was there in mid-2016 that we began discussions with HSIB for a collaborative project that would bring attention to the U.S.S. Constellation and its place in history.

With assistance from many agencies we received the necessary approvals to have our Rum aged on board the U.S.S. Constellation. As the ship is still on the U.S. Navy’s roles, this marks the return of Rum to the U.S. Navy after more than a 150 year absence.

We loaded the first two barrels of Rum on to the ship in December, 2016. The Baltimore CBS affiliate did a decent job of covering the story; here’s where you can find it. Maryland’s Department of Commerce also did a great job covering the event; here’s the link to their story.

It’s our plan to pull those first two barrels off of the U.S.S. Constellation in March and replace them with at least three more. We will bottle the Rum and should have it available in early April 2017. We’re hoping to be able to get about 500 bottles from this first voyage. A significant portion of the proceeds from each bottle will be donated to Historic Ships in Baltimore.

A look at the front label can be seen below!

“We are combining the best of what those early Marylander’s used with extraordinary efforts to be environmentally responsible to bring you the best Whiskies, Bourbons and Rums possible.”
